Ukraine to withdraw 40 percent of its forces from Iraq
Iraq-Ukraine, Politics, 4/16/2005
The polish contingent announced that Ukraine decided to withdraw about 40% of its forces in Iraq, estimated at 1400 soldiers during the four coming weeks.
This Ukraine step came after President Victor Banokovich signed a decree on Wednesday providing for withdrawing of all Ukraine forces before the end of the current year.
These forces are taking part in the international coalition which is led by the USA in Iraq. This force is under the Polish leadership and is deployed in Waset governorate, to the east of Iraq, and had lost 18 of its soldiers 20 months ago.
