Various attacks in Iraq, mass grave discovered

The Iraqi police detonated two booby trapped cars in al-Karradah quarters in the south east of Baghdad, but this did not result in casualties, according to a source in the police.

In al-Mansour quarters, one gunman assassinated an officer in the new Iraqi intelligence by opening fire at him against his house.

Six members of the Iraqi police were killed and others injured when gunmen attacked al-Adalah ( justice) police center in the south of Karkouk to the north east of Baghdad. Police sources said that the attack took place when police cars gathered to start duty in the city.

Eight persons were injured as a result of another attack by a booby trapped truck that targeted the house of Kheir Allah Taflah, the cousin of the toppled Iraqi President Saddam Husein and father of his wife Sajeda in Tikrit city to the north of Baghdad. News reports indicated that the house is used by the American intelligence for detaining and interrogating suspects.

On the other hand, a new mass grave including the remains of more than 20 Iraqis was found near al-Nasereyah city to the south of Baghdad and they were believed to be executed under the rule of Saddam Hussein. The people are trying to identify their identities. Witnesses said that most of the killed are young and this was concluded from their remains or properties.

Meantime, a source in the Iraqi police said that the security forces arrested some 27 persons described as extremists Islamists in a breaking in operation in Baqouba city to the northern East of Baghdad.
