Qaddoumi: UN is responsible for protecting holy places
Palestine-UN, Politics, 4/13/2005

Head of the PLO Political Department, Farouk al-Qaddoumi held Israel responsible for any act of terror committed by the extremist Israelis against al-Aqsa Mosque, calling for a serious Arab and Islamic stance to curb those threats.

In a statement Tuesday, Qaddoumi said Israeli practices against the Palestinian people are war crimes that necessitate an international protection and the UN intervention.

He added that the UN and the International Community are responsible for protecting Islamic and Christian holy places under Israeli occupation, warning that damaging those sacred places will provoke the Palestinians to react.

Qaddoumi also underscored that Israeli recent crime against the Palestinian young men in Rafah confirms decisively that Tel-Aviv's government has no intention to implement any agreement that could push the peace process forward.
