Lebanese figures for inter-dialogue, reject intervention
Lebanon, Politics, 4/13/2005

Lebanese parties and national organizations on Tuesday reiterated rejection of foreign intervention in the Lebanese internal affairs.

The parties, in a statement following a meeting in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon, hailed the Palestinian steadfastness and Intifada in the face of the Israeli settlers and occupation troops provocations, particularly the threat of storming al-Aqsa holy Mosque.

In Beirut, Lebanese Grand Mufti Muhammad Rashid Kabani conferred with Hamas Movement Representative in Lebanon, Osama Hamdan, on the Israeli threats to attack al-Aqsa Holy Mosque.

"There is a hidden Israeli intention to target al-Aqsa holy Mosque during the current year," Hamdan said following the meeting.

He added that "the foreign intervention in the Lebanese internal affairs attempts to put the issue of Palestinian refugees within a security framework, whereas it is a political issue."

Meanwhile, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for Roman Catholics Gregorios III Laham called on all Lebanese parties for dialogue and tolerance to achieve national reconciliation.

The Patriarch, opening an Eastern Theological Conference, expressed satisfaction over the national unity which was recently seen among Lebanese people, hoping for forming a new Lebanese government for the sake of "one Lebanon."
