New banks to open in Syria

Syria's Minister of Finance Mohammad al-Hussein on Tuesday said that Syrian government has given until today licenses to 6 trading banks in Syria, adding that soon the government will give licenses to other two banks which are "Oudeh Bank" and "the Arab Bank."
The minister told SANA, in the meetings of the Arab Financial Commission being held in Abu Dahbi, that "the Law on Islamic banking will be issued during the current month," referring to some Islamic UAE and Kuwaiti banks' desire to enter the Syrian banking market after the issuance of the said law.
