Turabi's health deteriorating
Sudan, Politics, 4/13/2005

Sources close to the leader of the Sudanese People's Congress party, Hassan al-Turabi, who has been detained by the authorities since one year, said he was taken to a doctor to receive medical treatment for his ears and that his family knew nothing about it.

Saddiq, the son of Turabi, said that this is the 6th operation carried out on his father, considering that health problems he had are a natural result for his being in detention and that he is not free to move.

Saddiq described the practices taken against his father as humiliating, noting that these practices will continue as long as general political conditions in the country are not solved. He, on the other hand, called for the release of his father.
