Morocco intends to set up high-speed train service by 2015
Morocco-France, Economics, 4/12/2005

Visiting Moroccan Prime Minister, Driss Jettou, announced Saturday that Morocco wants to establish a TGV (French high-speed trade service) by 2015 between Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir.

Jettou explained at a meeting with his French counterpart, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, that Morocco wants to improve its infrastructures especially in railways, and that it wants to reinforce cooperation with France in this realm.

On his part, the French premier said his country is eager to engage in a study of the rail project to be carried out by 2015.

The Moroccan premier's visit to France was devoted to bilateral economic affairs.

During the two-day visit, Jettou met with several French economic operators to highlight investment opportunities in Morocco and the program drawn up by the country to set up quality infrastructures.

He described French-Moroccan relations as "excellent," recalling that France is Morocco's first trade partner with a share of 30 percent of foreign exchanges and 50 percent of exchanges with the European Union. France is also the first investor in the kingdom and the first tourists provider.
