29 killed, injured in car explosion in Sameraa

A booby trapped car explosion in Sameraa, to the north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, resulted in killing three and injuring 26, many of them in critical health condition.

Two of the wounded men said that the attack targeted a procession for the American forces. The city's mosques, where armed groups are active, called for blood donations.

Gunmen killed in Balad area, in the north of Baghdad, a Turkish driver after they attacked his truck in Kharzaj area. In the same city, gunmen kidnapped the Kurdish engineer Nashtouman Azd who is working with the American army after they had broken into his house before dawn.

In Beji five Iraqis were killed as a result of opening fire on them by American sedan cars in the north of the city. Al-Dajil police, 40 km to the north of Baghdad, found the bodies of three Iraqi civilians who were working with the American forces.

The American army announced that gunmen killed by bullets member of the local council in Musil Ojeil Mohsin Ojeil, outside the main hospital in the city. Three members of the Iraqi army were killed in a bomb explosion targeting their procession.

In Baghdad, the forces of the third American troops contingent supported by members of the army and the police in Iraq killed 65 persons suspected of carrying out armed operations. The breaking in operations which are considered the largest since weeks took place in al-Rasheed quarters.

In al-Mahmoudeyah in the south of Baghdad, two gunmen were killed and other two jailed in a fire exchange with the Iraqi security forces.

In the west of Iraq, three booby trapped cars targeted an American base and one American military procession in al-Qaim city near the Syrian- Iraqi borders. These explosions were followed by violent clashes between fighters, that used missiles and mortars shelling, and American forces. Witnesses said that the attacks which was claimed responsible by al-Jihad group in Mesopotamia resulted in many casualties in the lines of the American military lines and the Iraqi national guards and American helicopters transported them.

In al-Ramadi the American forces broke into Mohammadi village near the city and arrested a woman and released her after one hour. It also destroyed one of the nearby houses.

In Baqouba in the north east of Baghdad, hundreds of students of the faculties, institutes and schools demonstrated in the city demanding the withdrawal of the American forces and their allies in Iraq, and chanted slogans against the US. They burnt the American flag.
