Confrontations, killing in Iraq

The second anniversary of Iraq's occupation was marked by continued confrontations between gunmen and the American forces in which Iraqi civilians were killed. Four American soldiers were injured in clashes in al-Sharqat town to the north of Baghdad.
The military spokesman for the American army in Tikrit, Richard Goldenberg, said on Saturday that three of the wounded Americans were taken to Germany for medical treatment. He added they were hit when unidentified persons threw one mortar on them while they were in a night duty.
In "New Baghdad" to the south of the capital, three children were killed in a bomb explosion implanted in the street. In Basra, an officer in the national guard Mahmoud Hassan al-Yasiri was killed at the hands of three veiled gunmen.
In Karkouk to the north of Iraq, a truck driver was killed and other 6 injured at the hands of gunmen who attacked their truck and set fire on it.
In another development, an Islamic group released one Iraqi said to be a journalist and called Hassan al-Zeidi.
