Baradaei only candidate for IAEA chief post
Regional, Local, 4/8/2005

The Board of the International Atomic Energy Agency decided to meet on April 27 to name a new chief, an official European source said Tuesday.

The source asserted that incumbent IAEA chief Mohammed El- Baradei is the only candidate for the post, reported Radio Sawa.

The IAEA board decided in March to shelve a decision on re-electing Baradei over American opposition.

Washington is the only IAEA member which formally opposed Baradie's candidacy for a third four-year term in office. His current term as director-general is due to expire in November.
