Syria is ready to join the international economy, premier

Syria's prime minister announced on Thursday that Syria has taken all needed procedures to meerge its economy with the international economy underlining at the same time significance of the national industrial sector.

Heading a meeting to prepare the first national industrial conference, Naji Otari said future inclinations for the modernization and development process in Syria are heading towards integration with the international economy. "The government has taken all needed procedures that will lead to achieve this inclination. This is done either by laws and legislations or through economic decisions that are taken to boost and develop the national economic sector," the premier said.

He noted that this was to make this sector meet its needs and requirements and to provide it with competitiveness and fulfill requirements of the Syrian-European partnership as well as the Arab free-trade- zone.

Otari emphasized the importance of the national industrial sector as the cornerstone to productive energy Syria is depending on in the process of building and development.

"We are working to consolidate a genuine partnership between the two private and public sectors. We work to develop and boost it as well as open new horizons for its productive activities, " he said.
