Three killed in Cairo explosion

Egyptian official sources announced the killing of three persons in an explosion in al-Azhar area on Thursday evening. The victims were one French, one American and one Egyptian believed to be the executor of the explosion.

A statement by the Egyptian minister of the interior said that the total number of the wounded is 18, half of them Egyptians and the others are four Americans, three French, one Italian and one Turk.

The spokesman for the Egyptian government Majdi Radi said that preliminary investigations reveal that the attack took place by one person whose remains were found and believed to be an Egyptian. Radi added that one bomb was blown up made from dynamite and nails.

This came following an emergency meeting on Thursday evening held by the Egyptian prime minister Ahmad Nazif to follow up the developments of the incident.
