Iraq's Presidential Council sworn in before parliament
Iraq, Politics, 4/7/2005

Iraq's president Jalal al-Talibani and his two deputies Ghazi Ojeil al-Yawer and Adel Abdul Mahdi will take their constitutional oath of office today before the National Assembly (the parliament).

For its part, the elected presidential council will appoint unanimously the prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari who will propose his government to the presidential commission, before submitting it to the parliament for approval.

Talibani promised to establish a democratic rule and achieve security and stability in the country, and exterminate what is called terrorism. He also called for not interfering in the Iraqi affairs, demanding Iraq's neighboring states to abstain from supporting what he called "black terrorism."

On the other hand, forces from the Iraqi police, army and national guards today continued for the third running day to take tough security measures in Baghdad especially on outlets leading to the conferences palace in the "Green Zone" area, where the sessions of the Iraqi National Assembly are being held.
