Moroccan terror suspects freed by Spanish justice
Morocco-Spain, Local, 4/6/2005
Spanish justice in charge of investigating about March 11 Madrid terror attacks, Juan del Olmo, released, Tuesday, the four Haddad brothers, arrested Friday for alleged involvement in the attacks, said court sources.
M'hamed, Driss, Hassan and Mohamed Haddad, along with 9 other individuals were suspected of having links with Yousssef Belhadj, the Moroccan believed to be Al Qaida spokesman in Europe, whom Belgium extradited to Spain this past Friday.
Belhadj is believed to be the hooded person who claimed, in a video, the Madrid attacks. The Haddad brothers were suspected to have housed Belhadj in July 2003.
The other nine suspects, who will be listened to later Tuesday, are believed to have links with Serhane Ben Abdelmajid Ferkhat, AKA the Tunisian, one of the alleged perpetrators of the Madrid blast, who later killed himself with six other kamikazes.
March 11, 2004 blast, in which four commuter trains were bombed in Spain's most horrendous attacks, claimed the lives of 192 persons and injured over 1500.
