Hoss: Syria is the most harmed by Hariri's assassination
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 4/6/2005
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss said on Tuesday Syria seems to be is the most harmed from the crime of assassinating former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
"It is Syria's enemies who have benefited from this and the self-evident-truth in any crime must start from asking: who would profit from it, and who is interested in doing such act?" Hoss said in an article to As-Safir newspaper.
He noted that he told the head of the international fact-finding mission on the Hariri assassination that the ball should be in the US foreign policy court in light of an old report talking abut a scenario to raise unrest and riot in the Middle East.
"The article I provided the international inspector has frankly linked between the assassination crime and this scheme, but for unexplainable reason there were no trace for it in the fact-finding-mission report which dealt with the political background of the crime," Hoss added.
Lebanese prime minister designate, Omar Karami, announced on Tuesday that the formation of new Lebanese government would be before the end of the week.
In a statement published by Lebanese media, Karami said the first action of the new government would be to restore the elections law with some modifications expecting some ministers from the resigned government would remain in the new one.
"The government will work as to modify the election law and turn it again to the parliament which is the body to decide, and modifications will incline to the keep proportional representation," Karami said.
