Talibani chosen president of Iraq

It is expected to be announced today officially the formation of the Iraqi Presidential Council after the Shiite and the Turks on Tuesday reached an agreement on who would be nominated to the council.

Both the Shiite and the Kurds chose the Kurdish leader Jalal al-Talibani as the President Of The Republic, while the post of the Vice President was given to Ghazi al-Yawer for the Sunni and the finance minister in the current government Adel Abdul Mahdi for the Shiite.

According to Kurdish and Shiite sources, an agreement on the formation of the new government chaired by the Shiite candidate Ibrahim al-Jaafari has become imminent, and might happen within days.

The Sunni forces in Iraq nominated each of Ghazi al-Yawer, the leader of "Iraqeyoun" bloc, and Adnan al-Baja-Jee, the chairman of the independent democratic coalition, and Adnan al-Janabi, the member in the monitoring committee for the post of the Vice President of the Iraqi republic.
