Lebanese figures deplore foreign intervention
Lebanon, Politics, 4/5/2005
Head of the Social National Syrian Party in Lebanon, Jibran Arbaji, warned that foreign intervention in Lebanon aimed at disarming the national Lebanese resistance and turning the country into a weak entity that cannot face up to the ambitions of Israel or foreign powers.
Arbaji said in a statement Monday that his countrymen would remain committed to the resistance as it constituted a guarantee for Lebanon's stability and security.
For his part, Deputies Ali Hassan Khalil and Saadullah Mazraani, who is also deputy Secretary General of the Lebanese Communist Party, reiterated rejection of disarming the Lebanese resistance.
The two legislators pointed out during a gathering called for by the Party's branch in the southern Lebanese town of Kfar Kella that foreign intervention sought to incite sedition among the Lebanese.
They also called for the implementation of reforms on the elections in Lebanon as stated by the 1989 Taif Agreement.
