Karami: new Lebanese government before end of the week

Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Omar Karami stressed that the announcement on forming the new government will be before the end of this week.

"The first job of the new government is to reform the draft of the election law and amend it ... I expect that some ministers of the former resigned government will keep portfolios," Karami said in a statement published Tuesday.

He added his government will work to amend the elections law and send it again to the parliament, pointing out that the amendments will be for having a proportional representation system for election winners.
