Iraqi detainees in American jails rebel

The American army in Iraq disclosed suppressing a rebellion for Iraqi detainees in "Buka" detention center, in the south of Iraq, with 16 persons injured including 12 detainees and four guards.

An American statement said that the detainees, in the largest prison run by the American forces in Iraq, started their rebellion by burning the tents where they stayed and threw stones on the guards and chanted slogans against the USA.

In March, the guards foiled a fleeing attempt from Yuka camp through two under ground tunnels. In January this year, the American soldiers opened fire at four residents in the camp during similar rebellion.

In another development, the central criminal court in Iraq sentenced between two years and life imprisonment four persons. They are two Syrians and one Libyan and one Saudi accused of sneaking into Iraq and joining the "resistance movement" there, according to a statement by the Iraqi forces.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Sunni Waqf court, Adnan Muhammad Salman al-Duleimi, called on the Iraqi government and the American forces to release more than 80 Imams and Sunni mosque preachers who were detained since the occupation of Iraq on April 9, 2003. He also called for stopping detention of mosques preachers and breaking into mosques because such acts worsens security conditions in Iraq.
