King chairs the opening of the 3rd festival of specific needs children

Morocco's King Mohammed VI chaired in Casablanca on Friday the opening of the 3rd Festival of Specific Needs Children organised by the State Secretariat in charge of Family, Children and Disabled People, on the occasion of the National day for the Handicapped.
The sovereign attended art shows performed by children of the deaf and mute children association and those of the association of parents of Casablanca non integrated children. King Mohammed VI also visited the various aisles of the exhibition held on the occasion and showcasing products, items and other articles made by disabled children. The sovereign visited the stand of the Mohamed V Foundation for solidarity and was informed on the projects the institution carries out for the benefit of special needs children, including specialised centers in Fez, Meknes, Taroudant, Marrakech, Temara, Ouerzazate, Khemisset, Casablanca, Essaouira with a overall cost of MAD 33.7 million, about 3.3 million euros.
The Moroccan King handed over honors to organizations and people working to help handicapped people, including Jabara Abrik, chairman of "Raed Al Massira Al Khadra" association of Dakhla, Pierre Katrakozos Dimitri, chairman of the association "Afak" of Ouarzazate and Guy Canavy, chairman of "Fondation Lydec" and others. The 3rd Special Needs Children Festival is held April 1-3 in Casablanca, under the auspices of King Mohammed VI. 50 national associations and 3,000 children are taking part in the festival part of Morocco's celebration of the International Day of Disabled Persons (March 30th).
The festival features disabled children talents in various disciplines and several activities to sensitise the public opinion on the disabled people's special needs.
Celebrating the autism year, the festival slates a conference on "special needs of autistic children and conditions of integration" attended by national operators, representatives of specialised associations and parents of autistic children.
