Europe said to reject Iran proposal on uranium enrichment
Iran-European Union, Politics, 4/1/2005
"Europe has rejected an Iranian proposal to keep a limited uranium enrichment program and demanded once again a permanent cessation of Tehran's uranium enrichment activities, the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung said Friday," IRNA reported.
According to the report, "the Europeans argued that Iran's plan for a pilot centrifuge project for uranium enrichment could be diverted by Iranian scientists to gather findings for military use."
"Iran had reportedly offered during its recent talks with the Europeans a small enrichment program which could have been closely monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," IRNA reported.
IRNA reported Tehran's repeated assertions that Iran "has repeatedly made clear it would never abandon its legitimate right to enrich uranium."
