Egyptian tourism revenues estimated at $ 6 billion in 2004

Revenues of Egyptian tourism in 2004 were estimated at six billion dollars, Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Maghrabi said yesterday.
Addressing an international tourism gathering, Maghrabi said that the Egyptian government is implementing a national plan aiming to achieve sustainable tourism development.
In 2004, eight million tourists spent 80 million tourist nights, the Minister said, addressing the fifth conference of the Executive Committee of the World Tourism Organization, currently held in the far-South Upper Egyptian city of Aswan.
The gathering is attended by representatives from Canada, the US, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Congo, Ghana and Egypt.
