Tantawi: Islam prohibits monopoly, sets rules for competition

Tile Grand Imam of AL Azhar Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Tantawi affirmed that Islam had set bases and rules of competition in the sale and purchase, based on truth, honesty and fairness.
Addressing the ninth conference organized in Cairo yesterday by Al Mansoura University, the Grand Imam said that Islam had banned monopoly because, he added, it produced rancorous and destroyed nations, peoples and groups.
On his part, People's Assembly speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour said the Egyptian legislature was interested in enacting a law for protecting competition and preventing monopoly practices.
