Istanbul-Casablanca first flight took off on Sunday
Morocco-Turkey, Business, 3/29/2005
The first direct Istanbul-Casablanca flight, serviced by the Turk Hava Yollari (THY) carrier, took off on Sunday part of the company's schedule to ensure two trips weekly from the Bosphorus town to the Moroccan economic capital.
THY and the Moroccan "Royal Air Maroc" (RAM) carrier, bound by a 1985 cooperation agreement, signed an accord to service the two destinations, each scheduling two flights weekly.
The Turkish air company is to service the line on Wednesdays and Sundays, while RAM is to fly from Casablanca to Istanbul on Tuesdays and Saturdays. THY said on the kicking of the first direct flight it plans to start a third additional flight next June 27th to link Istanbul to Casablanca on Mondays.
The direct air link between the Turkish and Moroccan towns is expected to enhance economic exchanges between the two countries that traded for 435 million dollars of goods and commodities in 2004.
To boost cooperation relations with the Turkish carrier and get closer to customers, "Royal Air Maroc" opened a branch in Istanbul.
