Spain arrests Moroccan for suspected belonging to terror organization
Morocco-Spain, Local, 3/29/2005
A Spanish judge has ordered the detention for alleged terrorist charges of Moroccan Redouane Ben Fraima, who is already serving a prison sentence in Sebta, judicial sources revealed on Monday.
Ben Fraima, was questioned last week along with Moroccan-born Spaniard Redouane Ahmed Ali, by the Spanish authorities for suspected involvement in terrorist acts, as they had a detailed plan of a ferry that plies between Algeciras and Sebta (Spanish colony northern Morocco).
Ali was discharged of terrorism allegations but was sent back to the prison of Sebta to serve a sentence for illegal immigration.
Last week, the Spanish daily "El Pais" run a story saying the two detainees concealed a large quantity of documents (in Arabic, French and Spanish) in their cell, including a sketch of the ferry "Ceuta-Algeciras."
Such findings had pushed investigators to suspect that the inmates were plotting to attack the ferry.
The Spanish justice dismantled late 2004 a cell of alleged terrorists that included many inmates who were plotting to attack important sites in Madrid.
