Continued military attacks in Iraq
Iraq, Military, 3/29/2005

The political controversy over the formation of the government in Iraq coincided with continued deterioration of the security situation as seven Iraqis were killed and other 8 injured in a suicide attack in a booby trapped car that targeted a procession heading for Karbala, in the south of Baghdad.

The attack took place on the road leading from Hella to Karbala as thousands of Shiite Iraqis were walking to the city to take part in celebrating the anniversary of Imam al-Hussein amid tough security conditions, of precaution to any armed attacks.

In another attack, col. Abdul Karim Fahd, the director of Bilat al-Shuhadaa police in the al-Doura area in the south of Baghdad, was killed by the bullets of unidentified persons together with his driver according to a source at the Iraqi ministry of defense.

The Iraqi police admitted the killing of one policeman and one street sweeper on Monday in a bomb explosion placed in a pile of wastes in al-Amal area in the south west of Baghdad.

The Iraqi police also announced the killing of another explosives expert and injuring other two when a bomb went off as they were trying to dismantle it in al-Baya' area in the south west of Baghdad.

In al-Maseeb, two Shiite citizens were killed by the bullets of unidentified persons while they were on their way to the holy city of Karbala to celebrate Imam al-Hussein death anniversary.

Meantime, a medical source in al-Yarmouk hospital said that the hospital received one "killed police man and seven wounded including six police men."
