Palestinian inclination to include Hamas, Islamic Jihad to PLO

Leader of the Palestine Islamic Jihad movement Muhammad al-Hindi on Monday announced his movement and the Islamic resistance ( Hamas ) might join the PLO for the first time.

He said that the chairman of the Palestinian authority, Mahmoud Abbas, agreed in a meeting held on late Sunday evening to the participation of members of al-Jihad movement in the meeting of the PLO executive committee this week in order to help in reinforcing the truce which was agreed on March 17.

Al-Hindi said that his movement and Hamas will be attending the meeting of the PLO in order to discuss the base according to which the PLO will be restructured.

He indicated that the PLO will consider in an attempt to permit them to join it. The two movements opposed, since a long time, the idea of joining.

For his part, Abbas said following the meeting that it comes as a continuity of contacts with Palestinian organizations in order to follow up the Cairo Declaration and matters relating to national unity, the elections and continued calm down.

The Abbas - al-Jihad meeting came following a meeting for the Revolutionary Council Of The National Liberation Movement ( Fatah) in Gaza attended by the president in preparation for the 6th general congress of the movement which will be held in August this year.
