Electricity grid project for Gulf states starts September

An official in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announced that it was decided to start work in the electricity grid project between the GCC 6 member states in September this year.

A bid will be announced for building the first phase of the project estimated at 22 billion dollars during the two coming months.

Saudi Arabia will cover 40% of the cost of the first phase while Kuwait 36.5% of its and Qatar and Bahrain will cover the remaining cost.

The said project which is composed of three phases will be completed by the end of the current decade. It will contribute to reducing electricity general costs in the Gulf region.
