Egyptian movie start Ahmad Zaki dies at 55

Renowned Egyptian Movie star Ahmad Zaki died yesterday in a Cairo hospital at age 55 following a long struggle with lung cancer.

Zaki was admitted to hospital three weeks before after he was obliged to stop filming the last shots of "al-Andaleeb" about the late Egyptian artist and singer Abdul Halim Hafez. Doctors said that he went into coma since the beginning of this month.

Doctors discovered in 2004 that Zaki suffers lung cancer and his health conditions remained under precise monitoring since then.

Ahmad Zaki is considered one of the most famous Egyptian actors. His fame does not only stem from the great number of his films, but also his success in performing the roles of the characters he play, besides, he represented the typical example of a young Egyptian who could make his own way successfully.

Zaki's starship started to rise for the first time when he acted in "Hello Shalabi" play in 1973 before his great talent appeared in the "Madrasat al-Mushaghibin (the school of trouble makers students) and then "al-Eyal Kebret" ( Children have grown up" and these masterpiece works were followed by numerous works, six of which were considered among the 100 best films in the history of the Egyptian film industry. These 6 films include two about the two Egyptian presidents Jamal Abdul Nasser and Anwar al-Sadat.
