Libya-Regional, Politics, 3/26/2005

Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi said on Thursday that the African states have to make the African Union "a united force and country," stressing that this matter is possible.

Al-Qathafi who was talking to a group of students in one off Algeria's hospitals, accompanied by the speaker of the Algerian parliament Abdul Qader Bin Saleh and the minister of higher education Rasheed Hrawebeyah, said "this matter is possible because Africa is very rich and we have to build on various aspects the age of globalization so as to assert ourselves."

Al-Qathafi described the Arab summit hosted in Algeria as "successful" in light of concluded resolutions. He stressed that Algeria "is considered an example to be followed in struggle and a holy land which resulted in November revolution," in remarks to the beginning of the war of independence against the French colonialism in November 1954.
