Bloody attacks in Iraq

Several Iraqi cities witnesses in the past hours new attacks and explosions, the most violent of which were the attack by a booby trapped car that targeted an inspection point for the Iraqi police at the eastern entrance of Ramadi city to the west of Baghdad and inflicted 11 killing in the line of the Iraqi police.

Seven other policemen were injured in the attacks in addition to two American soldiers and three civilians, according to a statement by the American army issued on Friday.

In Falluja, the American and Iraqi forces imposed curfew and installed inspection points in several areas of the city following clashes with gunmen in the Golan quarters in the city. Witnesses said the clashes killed four persons in the lines of the Iraqi police.

Meantime, gunmen assassinated two officers in the Iraqi army and their driver in al-Azeem area to the south of Karkouk. The Iraqi army said that three of the gunmen were killed in the clashes.

Other three gunmen were killed by the bullets of the American forces while they were trying to implant explosives on one of the public roads in al-Tahrir (liberation) quarters in the downtown of Baqouba to the north east of Baghdad.

In another development, the Iraqi police found the body of one policeman who was kidnapped one week ago in Balad area of Tikrit district, according to a police source.

In Rabe'a area to the west of Musil, near the Syrian borders, seven members of the Iraqi police were killed and other two members of the Kurdish Bashmarga forces in clashes that took place mistakenly on Thursday which also witnessed a violent battle that erupted in Tal-Afer town near the area between the American forces and the gunmen and this resulted in killing unknown number of civilians.

One Iraqi soldier was killed and another injured when a mortar fell at the headquarters of the Iraqi army in Salman Bak area to the south of Baghdad, where five Iraqi women were killed working in cleaning an American military base, together with a truck driver for the Iraqi ministry of trade by bullets of unidentified gunmen.
