Sebta inmates were allegedly plotting to bomb ferry, daily
Morocco, Local, 3/25/2005

The two inmates that were questioned, Tuesday, by the Spanish authorities on alleged involvement in terrorist acts, had a detailed plan of a ferry that plies between Algeciras and the Spanish colony in northern Morocco, Sebta.

According to a story run by the Spanish daily, El Pais, Redouane Ahmed Ali, born in Sebta (Spanish enclave in Northern Morocco), and Redouane Ben Fraima, born in El Jadida (southern Morocco), who were serving sentences in Sebta prison, concealed a large quantity of documents (in Arabic, French and Spanish) in their cell, including a sketch of the ferry "Ceuta-Algeciras."

These findings, the daily went on, may push investigators to suspect that the two inmates were plotting to attack the ferry.

Ali and Ben Fraima were transferred to the prison of Sebta pending a verdict on charges of illegal emigration.

Investigators are also examining the possibility of links between the two inmates and a former Guantanamo-detainee, Ahmed Abderrahmane Ahmed, AKA Hmidou, who was extradited to Spain in February 2004.

The new arrests bring the number of suspected inmate terrorists being questioned in Spanish jails to eleven.

The Spanish justice has dismantled a cell of alleged terrorists that included many members who were in prison. They were plotting to attack important sites in Madrid as the soccer stadium of Real Madrid and the headquarters of the court that hosts the offices of counter-terrorism judges.
