Dakhlallah confers with Turkish Journalists
Syria-Turkey, Politics, 3/25/2005
Information Minister Mahdi Dakhlallah has stressed that Syria looks to the relations with Turkey through the perspective of consolidation of peace and cooperation in the region, and this will certainly be reflected on the world level.
During his meeting with a number of Turkish journalists, Dakhlallah added that the Syrian-Turkish relations are an example to follow for constructive cooperation among the countries which are in bad need for peace and without which all the developmental and reform issues will not yield the aspired results.
He expressed Syria's appreciation and admiration of Turkey's firm stances regarding those who tried to intervene in the Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer's scheduled visit to Damascus soon.
He indicated that the process of reform and development is going on in Syria but the tense situation and instability hinder reforms not only in Syria but in the region as a whole.
Regarding relations with Lebanon, Dakhlallah said that "the reason behind the current pressures on Syria to pull out of Lebanon is because of Syria's stances toward aggression, occupation and war."
