Two Lebanese were killed in the Kaslik explosion
Lebanon, Local, 3/23/2005
The explosion which targeted a trade complex in the Kaslik area in Jouneyah, 20 Km to the north of Beirut, resulted in killing two persons and injuring 8 persons at least.
News reports said quoting sources in the Lebanese police that the two killed men are Asians working as guards for the building. The source added that the explosion resulted from a 70 kg bomb placed under a bag. This explains the volume of great damage in the first floor of the building which includes a night club and a cinema hall.
Witnesses said that the night club was closed when the explosion took place and this helped in having few victims in the explosion which came five days after the "New al-Jdeida" explosion near Beirut which resulted in injuring many people.
The explosion raised angry reaction in the area which is inhabited by a Christian majority. The parliamentarian for the area and former foreign minister Fares Bueiz described the explosion as "a political message to flare up sectarianism in the country, demanding not to fall in the trap of those who want to spread disorder and chaos."
