Continued investigations in Qatar's explosions
Qatar, Local, 3/21/2005

At a time when investigations continued and the area of the explosions remained closed, the Qatari ministry of the interior announced that the explosion which targeted a theatre for a British school on Saturday is a suicide attack carried out by a man carrying the Egyptian nationality.

The ministry said that the owner of the car is the executor of the attack and is called Omar Ahmad Abdullah Ali and that he works as an Information Technology engineer in one of the oil companies. The spokesman for the British embassy in Doha Muhammad Shawkat also disclosed the identity of the killed British as Jonathan Adams.

Though the nature of the attack and its executor were disclosed, however the Qatari ministry of the interior has not accused any side.

The assistant for the Qatari security director Maj. Gen. Ahmad al-Haiki refused to comment on whether the operation is part of al-Qaida campaign which so far targeted Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The British embassy in Doha suspended work in the two British schools in Doha until an indefinite time, while western embassies in Doha coordinated among themselves to avoid future attacks that might target their citizens or economic interests.
