Nearby Shiite- Kurdish agreement on the government in Iraq

Kurdish officials have stated that there they anticipate a nearby political agreement between the Kurdistani coalition list which includes the two main parties in northern Iraq and between the United Iraqi coalition list over the formation of the Iraqi government.

The Iraqi foreign minister whose term of office has expired, Hoshiar Zebari, said that the political officials are closer to forming a new Iraqi government and he expected an agreement to be reached in this regard before the end of March.

For his part, the chairman of the Kurdistani National Union party, Jalal al-Talibani, the designated figure for the post of the President of the Republic, stressed the agreement to solve the problem of Karkouk city according to the state's administration law for the provisional period.

Talibani said in a press conference following his meeting with the leader of the Kurdistani Democratic Party, Masoud al-Barazani, in his headquarters in Salah Eddine resort "we have agreed on implementing article 58 of the law, and one month after the formation of the government work, will start in implementing this article and also honoring the opposition decisions in this regard." The Kurds demand to have control on the oil revenues of the oil rich Karkouk area in Kurdistan district which includes three governorates in Dahouk, Irbil and al-Suleimanayh.
