Syrian army completed first phased of withdrawal from Lebanon

The Syrian army on Thursday completed the first phase of its withdrawal to the east of Lebanon so that to end the operation it had started on March 8th.

A source in the Lebanese army said that the intelligence and the army completely withdrew from the northern part of the country and the capital. The operation included withdrawal of 8,000 troops, half of whom were withdrawn to the Bekaa plain and the other half returned back into inside Syria.

Meantime, Lebanese security forces announced that the Syrian intelligence evacuated on Wednesday evening two positions it occupied in Tripoli in the north of Lebanon.
