Egyptian parties laud Mubarak's initiative on amending constitution

The 15 Egyptian parties participating in the national dialogue lauded yesterday President Hosni Mubarak's initiative on amending the constitution to allow multi-candidate Presidential elections.
The parties, meeting for their third plenary round of talks, said this "unprecedented" initiative would enhance the future of democracy in Egypt. They added that the "courageous" decision demonstrates confidence in the Egyptian people's ability to shoulder their national responsibility.
