12th Tetouan Festival of Mediterranean Cinema to raise curtains soon

10 long feature-length movies will be in competition at the 12th Tetouan Festival of Mediterranean Cinema that will take place from March 25 to April 1 in the northern Moroccan city.

The festival will showcase 10 long feature-length films from France, Italy, Croatia, Tunisia, Spain, Egypt and Lebanon alongside 15 in the short feature-length movies competition.

Initiated by "les Amis du CinŽma de Tetouan" association, the festival jury, mustering international film makers, will hand out the Tetouan Grand Prix to the to the film of the festival.

Outside the competition, 22 long and short feature-length movies will be screened alongside talks and colloquiums from key figures in the film industry.

A retrospective themed "Colonial cinema: Morocco in the eyes of Spanish cinema" will be organised during this edition.

This edition will pay tribute to movie directors, Mohamed Khane from Egypt and Abdelkader Lagtaa from Morocco and to the French producer, Humbert Balsan for their contribution in developing Mediterranean cinema.

Documentary cinema is also on the menu of the festival. Documentaries will tackle important issues such as the Palestinian cinema as an act of resistance against barbarism and also the situation of the Mediterranean women.

Cartoon cinema will also take part in this fest that aspires to be a corner stone in the Mediterranean basin.
