Boeing, RAM create new training company
Morocco-USA, Business, 3/15/2005
Royal Air Maroc signed, in Casablanca Monday, with Alteon Training, subsidiary of the Boeing Company, a partnership convention for the creation of a new training company, CasaAero Training, located in Casablanca.
CasaAero will be the first training center in the region of Africa, Europe and the Middle East, noted RAM's CEO, Mohamed Berrada, who signed the partnership convention with Alteon President, Patrick Gaines.
Alteon Training is the industry leader in partnering with the world's airlines to provide training solutions. The company provides customers an expanding and integrated services portfolio that includes flight, maintenance, and cabin-crew training.
The new center, to be launched on April 15, will set up a new 737-600/700/800 full flight simulator that will operate as a complementary to the airline's existing training center, that is currently equipped with a 737-300/400/500 full flight simulator.
CasaAero is the first training center added to the Alteon global network in 2005, following three training centers opened in 2004 in Atlanta in the United States, Brisbane in Australia, and London Gatwick, UK.
"Having Alteon Training as our partner is truly valuable as we look to expand our scope of business," said Berrada, noting that it will further "our own pilots' training as RAM continues to grow and prosper."
On his part, Gaines explained the strategic choice of Morocco to host the center, saying "Alteon's participation will ensure that the airline can increase its training capability without a large capital outlay and we will actively help further enhance aviation safety in the North African region."
Royal Air Maroc serves 67 destinations throughout 40 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East and North America. The company carries about four million passengers a year, thus realizing around MAD seven billion as a turnover.
