Security conditions deteriorate in Iraq

Security conditions have deteriorated in Iraq as several Iraqi areas witnessed attacks by gunmen for counter attacks carried out by the American and Iraqi forces.

In the capital Baghdad, the director general of the Iraqi minister of health divan Saad al-Amili on Monday survived an assassination attempt. The Muslim Scholars Commission complained that the American forces inspected the house of its leader for the second time during a short period.

In al-Mahmoudeyah to the south of Baghdad, the Iraqi police found on Monday three bodies on the road between al-Yousefeyah and al-Mahmoudeyah. Also found in al-Lteifeh were four bodies, three of the them were for soldiers and one for one policeman. A booby trapped car explosions targeted one Iraqi official in al-Yousefeyah. No details were given on the incident.

To the north of Baghdad, one explosive blew up on Monday in a procession of Turkish lorries on the highway to the north of Beiji city guarded by the American forces, and resulted in destroying a Turkish truck and the killing of its driver.

In Musil, a TV photographer working in Kurdistan channel for the Kurdistani Democratic Party led by Masoud al-Barazani at the hands of unidentified gunmen. Gunmen kidnapped in the downtown of Musil, the journalist Raeda al-Wazzan who was working in the TV and killed her.

News reports said that three civilians were killed and other four injured as American copters opened fire at two sedan cars in Jerusalem quarters to the east of Musil.

Two policemen were injured in another incident by gunmen fire. This came after the American army announced on Sunday the killing of one of its soldiers in an attack by gunmen in Musil.

To the west of Iraq, three civilians were killed and other ten injured as a result of the American bombardment of a residential area in al-Qaem town after a headquarters for the American forces at the customs building was bombarded by missiles earlier in the day at dawn.

The German news agency quoted Muhammad al-Kubeisi as saying that the American forces bombarded the area adjoining its headquarters by artillery and that among the ten wounded persons are five children in critical health conditions.

In Ramadi, one American vehicle was damaged in a bomb explosion at the western entrance of the city where the headquarters of the American forces was attacked by mortars shelling.

In Washington, the Department Of State explained that the two Americans who work for the "Black Water" security company and were killed on Saturday in an attack to the south of Baghdad where they were assigned to ensure protection for American diplomats in this country.
