Egyptian exports up by LE 10.7 B in 11 months

"Exports reached LE 43.3 billion during the economic period January- November 2004, compared with LE 32.6 billion during the same period in 2003. Meanwhile, the total volume of imports rose by 22 percent to LE 71.4 billion," the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) report showed yesterday.

Oil, raw cotton, ready-made clothes, steel and aluminium achieved high exports, while books, magazines, cotton clothes, cooking oil and fertilizers achieved low exports, the report said. While oil, wheat, wood, chemicals, medicines achieved high imports, whereas maze, cars tobacco and sugar achieved low import rates, the report added.

According to the trade exchange figures showing Egypt's international relationship, the Western European countries occupy the top position, receiving about 32.8 percent of the total exports; followed by Asia, which receives 28.5 percent of the exports. The Eastern European countries received 10.7 percent of the total exports.
