Egypt and Jordan to supply Iraq with electricity
Iraq-Regional, Economics, 3/14/2005
"Under an agreement reached in principle with Baghdad, Jordan and Egypt have pledged to supply western Iraq with electricity," said the Director General of Jordan's National Electricity Company Ahmed Hyaissat Saturday.
He revealed that the Jordanian Cabinet approved the arrangement last week. "The three governments are negotiating the procedural steps for exporting power to Iraq," Hyaissat said.
"Technically speaking, a 132-kilovolt, 200-kilometre line will be set up to connect Jordan's border Risheh power plant and the Okashat area in Western Iraq," he added.
