Egypt, Tunis sign economic cooperation agreements

Egypt and Tunisia signed agreements on economic cooperation with the aim of raising the volume of trade exchange and investments between the two states.
The two sides signed cooperation agreements in the field of railways and two cooperation protocols in the fields of energy and roads.
The two sides also signed memorandum of understanding in the sectors of gas, oil, medicines as well as cooperation programs in the fields of tourism and scientific researches.
The two states aspire to expand their trade exchange from USD 100 million in 2004 to almost USD 300 million.
On the other hand, a monthly report issued by the Egyptian trade ministry indicated the increase in Egyptian exports to a rate of 25% during the first 10 months of 2004 to reach USD 6.267 billion. The report also shows the increase in petrochemicals at 27% to reach USD 2.530 billion for the same period.
