Egyptian newspaper on American accusations against Syria
Egypt-Syria, Politics, 3/12/2005
Egyptian newspaper 'al-Ahram' on Friday criticized the U.S. officials' allegations that the Syrian steps regarding the pullout of its troops from Lebanon are not enough, asserting that such statements don't serve the achievement of security and stability ion the region.
In a front paged editorial, the newspaper underlined that the objective vision of the Syrian troops' pullout from Lebanon should take into consideration that the withdrawal requires enough time, asserting that the Syrian troops came to Lebanon under an Arab legitimate cover.
The news paper also pointed out that al-Taif Accord includes a mechanism for the Syrian troops pullout in a way that secures Lebanon's security and stability in contradiction to UN resolution 1559.
