Expatriate minister confers with British delegation
Syria-UK, Politics, 3/11/2005

Syria respects every resolution of international law, but at the same time the international community should also follow up and implement all of its resolutions with no selectivity, Syria's Expatriate Minister Buthaina Shaaban said on Thursday.

The minister stressed that implementing all of UN resolutions will help peoples and countries in the region to establish the just and comprehensive peace "it is the same peace that Syria has been calling for" she added.

Regarding the Syrian-Lebanese relations Shaaban underlined that relation between Syrian and Lebanese people is deeper than what media is showing, "it's a historic, geographic and blood relation in additions to joint agreements and fraternity-cooperation-coordination treaty," the minister told reporters during a meeting with a British media delegation.

She criticized the US position and western media stance against Syria relating to terrorism, noting to Syria's rejection of them.

"Throwing terrorism accusations against innocents, and what media is broadcasting against our people, really needs a reconsideration particularly by those who have conscience, intellect and mind" the minister added.

She also stressed Syria is standing side by side with the international community against terrorism clarifying that Syria was the first country which suffered from terrorism and did its best to combat it.
