Syrian Catholics deplore accusations against Syria

Catholic Church Metropolitans Council denounced on Thursday accusations and pressures put on Syria for its patriotic and pan-Arab position.

In a statement, at the end of their rotating meeting in Homs, Central Syria, they announced support to Syria's stance while facing challenges as to push the peace process forward due to its being the "key of stability and security as well prosperity in the region." "Peace is the guarantee of joint coexistence and understanding among peoples as to carry on the process of development and modernization and to establish rights and justice among all," the statement said.

Participants at the meeting discussed the region's conditions following the assassination of Lebanese former premier and its consequences as well the Syrian-Lebanese ties and the increased pressures on Syria.
