Concerning the efforts aiming at forming the new Iraqi government to succeed the government of Eyad Allawi interim government, consultations continue between the Shiite list and the list of the Kurdistani coalition in order to come out with a formula of agreement between the two main parties as representatives in the National Assembly.
Mariam Taleb, member of the united coalition list which won 148 seats of the 275 seats of the national assembly said that the coalition convinced the Kurds to solve the issue of the oil-rich Karkouk city in light of what was stated in article G of article 28 of the law of the state's administration for the Interim phase.
The law of the state's administration which was laid by the Interim governing council in 2004 states to postpone all disputes to this effect until a census was made and approving a permanent constitution for the country and carrying out a referendum by the people.
