Maroc Telecom interested in Senegalese market, Senegalese presidency

The Senegalese presidency confirmed Maroc Telecom is interested in the Senegalese market and denied the information that Karim Wade, son of the Senegalese president, would have played any role in the setting-up of the Moroccan telecommunications operator in the West African country.

The presidency added Maroc Telecom and the MTN company showed interest in running of the third telephony license in Senegal, stressing Senegal does not approach anybody, for international bid are made "and people respond," said Senegalese president special adviser in charge of new technologies, Thierno Ousmane Sy.

Ousmane Sy said knowing that relations between the president of the republic and the king of Morocco are so strong, some people's imagination run wild to come up with things "that do not exist" regarding would be relations between Maroc Telecom and Karim wade.
