Syrian forces are withdrawing from Lebanon

News reports in the Bekaa in Lebanon said that some Syrian military trucks crossed the borders and entered the Lebanese lands to transport soldiers and equipments in preparations for the withdraw completed on Tuesday evening.

Meantime, units of the Syrian army positioned in Lebanon started as from Monday evening withdrawal to the Bekaa plain. News reports said that the withdrawing forces started to gather in Ein Dara and Hammana areas in Mount Lebanon governorates. News reports in Damascus said that the withdrawal will be coupled by the pullout of the Syrian security forces.

A Syrian source asked to be anonymous announced that the Syrian- Lebanese summit which was held on Monday in Damascus took decisions that will be conducive to the complete Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon together with the military intelligence. The source added that the decisions of the Syrian- Lebanese higher council are but a series of measures to implement the Taif accord, conducive to the full Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon.
